Scenario in absence and presence of an IXP
An ISP (Internet Service Provider) is a company that provides third party access to the Internet. Customers simply use their modem to connect to the ISP, which then links them to the Internet automatically.
Although the prices and facilities of ISPs differ, they all offer some standard basic services such as 24 hour Internet access, a unique e-mail address for your company, storage space for your own Web site and basic software programs for browsing the Internet. Some ISPs, also referred to as on-line information providers, provide extra services such as access to databases of business information.
For information on ISPs in the Kingdom, visit BIX Member List.
The exchange of national and/or international IP traffic through the Exchange is known as peering. Members can easily connect up with each other and enjoy the full benefit of peering.
ISO is a global network that identifies what International Standards are required by business, government and society.
Standards make a big contribution to most aspects of our lives but very often, that contribution is invisible. They increase the levels of quality, safety, reliability and provide such benefits at economical cost.
By attaining an ISO certification, BIX can confirm that it provides excellent Service Level to its client and society.
